Finally we can enjoy power and speed of Amazon AWS services, in Australia but… so far we can’t get full experience, it’s only for two services – Amazon Route 53 and Amazon CloudFront . So… in simple words we can enjoy with 100% SLA DNS service and global CDN with edge location based on Sydney.

Amazon RDS for $20 monthly

Amazon AWS just announced that Micro instances can be used for Amazon RDS with MySQL database engine which is really good news. Previously cheapest option  was Small Instance which was quite “expensive” with $0.105 USD for on hour (without reserved instances). Now we can use RDS with MySQL for $0.025 hourly! We can go even lower with reserved instances. Details about pricing are available here .

Taking snapshots of websites – it’s very simple thing, but … you need to install an browser extension – I’m using Awesome Screenshot , or use magic shortcut in Mac OS X. You can also take advantage of services specializing in this task, but as far as I know there are not many free solutions. So today I will describe the project webthumbnail.org .</ The idea is very simple – generate snapshots of the page at any resolution, we can choose between several browsers (Chrome, FireFox, Opera).

I was looking for some kind of easy to use Window Manager for Mac OS X. Usually I’m working on multiple screen with multiple application open (usually it’s between 4-8). It’s really hard to organise everything in proper order and placement. Arranging windows it’s slow, especially when you need to compare or see results on multiple window at once.

iBrowser and TinyMCE

You can find plenty of tutorials how to setup tinyMCE and iBrowser, but non of them mention about common problems, like “error building image list!”, or how to bind regular image browser to iBrowser. Here you can find full instructions.
